Digital Marketing Session 1 - Classwork - Weareables

Wearables can be defined as electronic devices that are worn on the body or clothes. The first wearable computing devices were body-worn computers in the military, followed by consumer products such as MP3 players strapped to the arm and fitness devices that compute distance and heart rate. 

As of 2016, smartwatches, heads-up augmented reality displays, healthcare monitors and smart clothing are wearable technology products. Wearable electronics is expected to be a growth industry.

My Understanding:

Wearables are enterring smoothly the high-tech market and is a new way to conceive technology embed to our body. They can reveal being very useful at different levels, such as healthcareness as well as future management helping gadgets for staff within the hospitality industry.





As for hotel perspective, wearables are to be considered as a potential tool that can enhance guest experience as well as provide assistance. using a smartwatch app to be connected with the hotel as soon as you have landed to your destination could be of a great help, with personalized features that would allow the guest to access his booking details, order a taxi/trasnfer at the airport, make special requests or even check-in before his arrival. That watch could also be connected to centralized software inside the hotel that would be compatible with. Wearable tech is to be taken seriously in a near future in guest's experience improvement. 

The wearable technology applications for the hospitality sector are not quite as dynamic as compared for example to retail or construction, yet wearables stand to fundamentally change this industry as much as any other. I am quite convinced that wearable tech is coming into play seriously in that industry in the next decade.
